Multi-layered Woodland

A small, multi-strata forest in the heart of the city
The landscape simulates post-disaster wastelands in nature, tracing the natural process of regeneration—from pioneer woodlands of sun-loving species to the gradual formation of a multi-layered forest. The upper canopy of arbors is carefully pruned, while shade-tolerant plants suited for low-light environments are introduced beneath. These are combined with smaller arbors, shrubs, herbaceous plants, and vines of varying heights, together replicating the complexity of natural forest strata.
Through this transformation, what was once a simple pioneer woodland has been shaped into a rich, layered forest ecosystem. Designed as an environmental education site within the neighborhood, the woodland aspires to serve as an urban gateway to the mountains. With tall trees growing alongside local residents, abundant understory vegetation, and winding small pathways, it offers not only a healing sanctuary for adults but also a boundless classroom for children to explore and connect with nature.
